Hands of Mercy Project

project1

Is the home of Orphans and abandoned children who are left in desperate need of care, Love? Right now we have over 180 Orphans under the age of 3, 4 up to i8 years all of them have either lost both Parent nor one parents, due HIV/AIDS, Poverty, Malaria, Landslide, and the most cases of mother who die while giving birth while 20 % of the orphans of all ages are due to domestic violence as result poverty in homes.
Hands of action Uganda gives destitute children a place to call home. With a lot of misery due to poverty, HIV/AIDS, Malaria, war, and Land slide –has contributed to high increase of orphans in Bududa District. With my two eyes I experienced with tears rolling down, when child was scalded by his guardian because he failed to get any money by begging on road side in Mbale Street. Another child was locked in the house and starved for days on end. Another was born and abandoned at garbage dump heap. Another was burnt hands because he ate food without permission. Such and others are the current occupants of Hands of action Uganda. Local Government in Uganda has still failed to ride the street children, orphans in Uganda. Hands of action- Takes every child is a blessing from God. It has a right to good health, Education and shelter, a right to play and adequate food. I cannot stand seeing child being forced to beg on street on behalf of older women and then they themselves eat at garbage bins. Hands of Action Uganda, have tried to help these category of such children by proving food, clothes, Medication, Mosquito Bed nets, soap and scholastic Material, but it wasn't enough we are seeking international Partners to hold hands together to help these mistreated children in Uganda.

Hands of Action Uganda launches program to give dairy goats to needy families

We all know the old saying that begins, if you give a man a fish, you can feed him for a day.  But if you teach a man how to fish, you can feed him for a lifetime.

But in Bukibokolo … the fish are goats!

We believe giving people ownership of income generating projects will promote long term self-reliance and sustainability, breaking the cycle of poverty and aid-dependency. Giving people the tools they need to do this is just one of the projects initiated by the Uganda-based Randa United Farmers Group.

We will provide dairy goats and farming equipment to the most needy households in the region.  We have identified the 150 most vulnerable households. With their dairy goats and basic farm tools, they can begin to earn a living. They’ll share their produce and pass on baby goats through a breeding program to the second tier of 300 households, and so on.  RUFG is assisting the local community deal with a raft of problems: the aftermath of devastating landslides in 2010 that killed more than 350 people; a HIV/AIDS epidemic that has created a generation of young orphans, education, and health care issues related to chronic poverty.

But we cannot do this without help.  We are actively looking for international partners who can contribute to help us achieve our ambitions.

Please help us make a difference.

The video is a Ridealist production.

Randa Community Library Project

There is no Liberty of Books in Uganda. How do you pass on book learning if you don’t have any books? You write notes on the blackboard, or you dictate lessons. Your students write down what they can, then go away to study their notes, accurate or not. That’s how most students learn in Geographic area in Uganda. They come from villages where the schools are overcrowded and underfunded.  Teachers are lucky if they have one textbook for every ten children.

To make things more difficult, all education beyond the most elementary level is done in English, a foreign language to Ugandans, and one that in rural areas is rarely heard outside the classroom. It is hardly surprising that only a minority of rural children gets into secondary school, and only a small part of that group goes on to higher education. Yet young rural Ugandans and their teachers alike yearn for access to the world outside their villages and, given the opportunity, will work hard to acquire the necessary knowledge and language proficiency to do so.

Hands of Action Uganda came up with the idea of helping the community with Randa Community Library. It’s unique and the only Community Library and idea in the whole district of Bududa. This library is in one of the most remote and beautiful areas in Uganda, high in the hills of Mountain Elgon. Hands of Action Uganda started the library in 2009 after the high number of students failing in Primary Leaving Examination (PLE) – the national Exam one has to pass before joining High school – as charity begins at home.

We start this Library to help the young ones to develop the culture of reading. With the help of our development partners, we started with a few Text Books. Our objective was to help both school children and community farmers, to avail them with a source of information. Members managed to secure two rooms rent free for three years. The library is being used by school children, farmers, Institutions, Police and teachers. However, it is still under stocked.
